What is Stencil?
Stencil is our next generation platform of Bigcommerce. It will work as a cosmetic tool for the users to customise the appearance of the store without coding. In this framework, there are several pillars which will work as a strong foundation for all front store development.
Why Stencil?
Stencil uses Handlebars templating language which makes it logic base as well as flexible enough to work with. It has rich options for front-end development which are driven by JavaScript event. Best option for local development and redesign as it is done with minimal coding. Let’s adopt and create stunning, dynamic and powerful storefront with this new approach.
How it works?
Compared to the previous platform “Bigcommerce Legacy”, there is change in the work flow for the developers. Developer can now configure theme in their local machine as well, but end user does not need to worry as you can still modify the theme via template editor.
